    Hi,

Is it possible to have the whole site back-upped to onze zip? It seems there several files created and it misses all the wordpress files? How to backup the whole website?

I’m used to using backupwordpress which creates 1 zip file + database which is easy for migrating in one go. However backupwordpress can’t really handle shared hosting it seems.

    Thank you!

    Regards
    Rob

    Hi Rob,

The backup is split across more than one zip file. This makes restoring a lot more efficient. On big websites, it tends to be the media library (i.e. uploads). Having to re-download and unzip X gigabytes of media library just to undo a dodgy plugin update is an unpleasant experience (especially if your site is down whilst it happens). Hence the design decision. Of course, there’s the trade-off of a small loss of convenience, that to download the whole backup locally involves downloading more than one thing.

    Hi David

i would like to switch to updraft, but i have the same question. i want a full backup. with all the files in root (wp-config.php), etc.
right now you split into several zips, ok. but it’s only plugins, themes and uploads. whats up with the rest of the files? how to activate to have them all in the backup too?

    Thanks!

    Thanks,
