    Hi,

From the log, it looks like your blog is very rarely visited – or at least, was very rarely visited at the time you were running the backup.

If a site is never visited, then WordPress can’t run, and can’t hand over to any plugins (like UpdraftPlus) to do its work.

If you have a visit at least every 5 minutes (set up an automated one, e.g. using Pingdom, if you don’t), then you’ll be fine.

You are probably right but I still can’t get it to work.. I’m manually visiting the site from 3 computers while running the backup, clicking links and F5ing multiple times per minute. Still it just ends up in a million runs with smaller and smaller batch sizes and never completes.

For some reason it runs two jobs when clicking “Backup Now”. Don’t know if it’s supposed to do that. Heres the last two logs:

    Hi,

The backups are kicked off by the WordPress scheduler, so if it kicks off two then that’s a WP issue – though I noticed you’re on WP 3.4 – they may have done some work on that in the meantime,

The main issue is that it looks like your webserver only allows PHP to run for about 5 seconds at a time. That’s not long enough to do anything useful once the zip files being manipulated get up to about 100Mb. Normal is about 90s – I’ve only twice ever seen less than 30s that I can recall. You need to talk to whoever configures the webserver to get the value raised to something sane.

    Best wishes,
    David

Thanks for the lightning fast reply! My webhost says they run PHP for 50s on all servers though.

Tried setting the split size at 80mb and now it seemed to work (uploading to dropbox now according to the log).

I’ll try updating to the latest WP and start fresh when the upload is done. Thanks!

Great – glad you got it working.
