I have ben using WPvivid Backup for awhile and use it to make SFTP backups to my personal server. It has ben working well but as my site has grown, I have has to reduce the “Compress Files Every” to 50 in order for the backup to complete. It seems to work for a day or two and then the backups hang and I get screens with messages like:

“Task wpvivid-5f4c3dc345926 timed out, backup task will retry in 49 seconds, retry times 1.”

    “Task, backup_content is not responding. Progress: 64%, running time: 5 min(s)24 Second(s).”

Backups usually start at 12:00am Eastern time and can still be running 12+ hours later and never complete. In some cases, I have let the process run for days and it never completes.

My database size is 38.39MB and File Size is 2.14GB per the Backup screen.

I have checked your FAQs and made some changes to the settings but that has not helped. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi @davidschwartzer

Have you also checked your WP Cron? As the plugin’s retry mechanism works by adding scheduled tasks to your queue, our guess is that this may be because the tasks are not triggered as scheduled.

Thank you for your prompt response.

I’m afraid I need a little guidance regarding your suggestion. Although I have heard the term WP Cron, I am not sure what it is or how to check it. Can you tell me what I need to do and exactly what I am looking for?

    Regards,

    David

    Hey @davidschwartzer

    Thanks for your update.

You can install the WP Crontrol plugin to check your WP-Cron system and see whether the wpvivid_task_monitor_event and any other events have been triggered as scheduled.

I installed the plugin you suggested but I’m not sure what I am looking at. There are several entries with yellow bars next to it and the actions column lists None. There is also one entry with a red bar next to it.

There appears to be one entry for the WPvivid plug in which shows the following:

(it is all on one line)

    Hook: WPvivid_task_monitor
    Augment: [“WPvivid-5f4d8f01a022a”]
    Next Run: 2020-09-01 12:24:51 1 minute 8 seconds
    Action: WPvivid-task_monitor()
    Recurrence: Non-repeating

I’m not sure what this means or if this normal.

I suggest getting the pro version and use the incremental backups. This will backup only the changes t the website so your not having to move a large transfer each time.

I assume you are asking for a screenshot of the Cron screen I mentioned above but I don’t see a way to attach a file to this thread. Is there another way to send it to you?

    Hey @davidschwartzer

I assume you are asking for a screenshot of the Cron screen

    Yes, exactly.

You can send it to contact(at)wpvivid.com or upload the image to https://prnt.sc/ then send us the link.
