    Hi there,

I looked already and found a topic about this from over a year ago, so I thought to ask again, just in case there is new info.

My backups are running and completing successfully and being sent to Google Drive, and today I needed to restore a database to fix a mistake.

All went as expected until I got a warning that the backup was made with http, when I know the site is being forced https. I went ahead anyway, and the restore worked, except that Jetpack had now disconnected and refused point blank to reconnect. I got the ‘accept’ 2FA pop up in the WP app, but it just never connected, no matter how many times I tried.

I ended up using my hosts cPanel backups and things worked perfectly, and I didn’t need to reconnect Jetpack, it was already connected.

I also checked some of my other sites and attempted to restore their databases with UDP but stopped when I got the same http warning on all of them.

Maybe I should also add that I have changed slightly the way I force https, but I would think Updraft would have picked up on this.

    Hi @sean-h,

UpdraftPlus restore only works if you restore it on the same URL/Domain. It needs to be the same exact URL – http or https included. What you could do is probably revert back your site to http then restore the backup and then you can then re-apply the force https on your site.

    Hi @bcrodua

The thing is all my sites are using https, it is set in WP General Settings, and has been like that for years.

It looks like I can no longer rely on UDP as a primary backup solution, unless I’m missing something very simple. At least it has worked in the past and it still works, kind of, but like I say, the problem I now have is if I restore, Jetpack gets disconnected and refuses to re-connect. Restoring from my hosts backup, no problems.

So my question remains: why is UD backing up the http version of all my sites? What I have just done was to wipe all settings and re-sync with Google Drive, but no joy. I attempted to restore again and it warned me about it being an http backup.

Let me try uninstalling, deleting and reinstalling the plugin entirely, although I shouldn’t have to…

Edit: Now that seems to have fixed the problem, not wiping settings, but re-installing the plugin itself. But why do you suppose that is? If I had known that needed to be done I would have done so, it didn’t take long because I only have 6 sites, (imagine an agency with +100 sites) but when I keep getting told backups are completing successfully I’m going to assume they are and that I will be able to use them when needed. I only found this problem after I needed to restore, but by then it was too late.

    Hi @sean-h

May I know if the version you were using before is the latest version 1.16.25?

Yes, I always have the latest of everything, when it comes to web hosting software, but my B&W Hi-Fi speakers are from 1980.

I have deleted and re-installed the same latest version of UD on all my sites, and now it is working perfectly. After a full site restore, nothing complains, and Jetpack remains connected.

    Hi Sean,

Glad it is working now though. If you get the same issue again, please provide us a copy of the backup/restoration log and a screenshot of the exact error you are getting. So I can forward it to our developers.

    Vintage speakers are awesome!

    Have a nice day.

I walked into a thrift shop looking for a wardrobe, but the ones they had were mostly of the gothic renaissance style which doesn’t really go with our contemporary flat decor, and I instead walked out with a pair of high end vintage speakers (and Technics amplifier) in mint condition for….€145. I think I am the 2nd owner now. Score!

Just to clarify, I did not get an error per se, but instead a friendly warning and that I can proceed with the restoration if https force is enabled, which it was and still is. The restore was then apparently successful, as reported by Updraft, the only ‘error’ was Jetpack.

Right, I think I’ll mark this as resolved. Thanks again for your time.
