Backup only starts when logged in to WP

    Hi Michael, thank you for a great plugin. I do have a slight problem though. My backups only start working as I log in to my WP admin. For instance, I had a weekly backup set to begin at 1 am this morning. it did not run at 1am, but as soon as I logged in to WP this evening the backup started and ran successfully. I have a standard WP Install on a test site. I do not have any caching plugins. In fact, I just deactivated all plugins, set a backup for 9pm this evening, logged out and waited. Again, nothing happened until I logged in at 9.26pm when the backup started straight away. My hosting package does include cron jobs by the way.

    Any ideas?

    Update on this is that it appears to be Better WP Security Plug in that is causing my scheduled Backups to not work unless I am logged in. Just disabling BWPS did not work, so I activated it again and switched everything I could off in hte plugin and then I got my scheduled backup to work. Struggling to find the setting in BWPS that is causing the problem but if I find it I will let you know.

    If anyone else has had any issues with BWPS Plug in and WordPress Backup to Dropbox and solved them, I would appreciate some info.

    If BWPS is stopping wp-cron from executing tasks then it is breaking a core feature of WordPress and you should raise this with the plugin developer.

    Hi Michael, my apologies, I should have updated this post. After spending ages on the wrong track, I realised that this was nothing to do with Backup to DropBox or BWPS Plugin. It was simply that WordPress chron needs the site to be visited before it kicks in. I didn’t know that when I first posted, but I do now. My site was a test site and therefore I was about the only person visiting it and mostly when I was logged in, hence it seemed that BU2DBox was only working at that point. Maybe my foolishness will be a lesson to others :-).
