    Hi there,

I only have the Free version of UpdraftPlus. I’ve installed UpdraftPlus and created 1 backup visible in “Existing Backups”.

    Question 1:
I see there are “Database, Plugins, Themes, Uploads, Others” files which I can download individually to my PC. Is there however ONE file which is the entire backup of my website?

    Question 2:
Lets say the answer to Q1 above is “no” and I choose to download each of the individual files. If I then completely deleted everything in public_html on my host as well as blew my database away… Then re-ran the wordpress auto-installer, installed UpdraftPlus, and restored the files from my PC… would I be back in action? (assuming the domain url remains constant)

What makes me doubt this though is that the newly created database would have a different name.

Sorry, I’m very confused here ??

    Michelle

    Hi Michelle,

So answer to question 1 is no, each part of your site is backed up into a different zip file e.g plugins, themes database etc

This allows you to backup and restore either parts of your site or the entire site.

Answer to question number 2 is yes, if you was to delete your entire WordPress install, then reinstall WordPress and UpdraftPlus along with reconnecting to your chosen remote storage and rescanning for your backup as mentioned above.

You can then resotre that backup and your site will be restored to the state it was in when that backup was taken.

You do not need to worry about the database name being different UpdraftPlus doesn’t care about this as it backs up the database tables and their content and restores these to what ever database WordPress is using.

Hope this helps, if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Best wishes,

    Ashley
