I have another thread but it seems to not be active. I was asked to increase my max execution timeout on my host. I did that as well as increasing vars to 10,000 and php memory to 512mb.
I still cannot get a backup to complete on my main site nor on my staging site. I really need help.

    Hi guys,

Please could you send us a copy of the backup log?
This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

I have put 2 files on Dropbox. The latest is from the failed attempt from my staging site, the older is the latest failed attempt from my main site. I have not been able to make a backup since around August 6th.
I have adjusted the archive split on both to 25MB. My host has adjusted the max_execution_timeout to 900s, the vars to 10,000 and the Php meory to 512 on my main site. I am using Updraft Vault for storage.

    Hi,

I can see that the backup still gets timed out or killed off. The server may have reached the resource limit. You can test by excluding the “uploads” component from the backups and see if the backup successfully completes.

If yes, then the resources allocated is not enough. Please ask your hosts/server admin to increase the server resource limit further.

    Best Wishes,

I had them on the phone and they checked everything and made my staging the same as production settings (although both fail during the upload or pruning stage). I have 512 mb resources, Still hangin at one point or another. The test with not having “uploads” selected worked fine, but my resources should be more than enough with 512mb.
This is getting VERY frustrating. With the WordPress 5,5 and Elementor 3.0 debacles, I need good backups to test these before upgrading.

    Hi,

I would suggest create separate backup for the uploads if that is the case. Since Uploads usually consist up to 90% of the entire site.

With all due respect, that seems to be a work-around rather than a fix. It forces me to split my backup into 2 parts and adds complexity to the restore should it be needed.
Surely, there is a better answer?

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

I’m afraid that the best solution is to increase your server resource limit. As the log shows that the backup process is being cut off at some point while backing up the uploads component of your website.
