As soon as i manually start this backup, it says “backup begun”, with a log entry of :

“Scheduling a resumption (1) after 300 seconds (1460093717) in case this run gets aborted (Apr 07 22:30:17)”

However, the backup hangs and does nothing.

    Here is the log :

    Hi,

This log suggests that PHP may be crashing (or the backup process is otherwise killed off) very early into the backup.

You will need to contact your hosts/server admin, and ask them to investigate their PHP error logs. These logs should contain more information on the exact error that is occurring.

I had already checked with my hosting provider before posting this, and here is what they said :

“There are no errors in the php logs, and there is nothing helpful in the updraft plus log either.

“I’ve installed my backup plugin of choice (BackupWordPress), and it works just fine. A database backup with WP Security also worked.”

I have a report now from the hosting provider that they resolved this by upgrading PHP. Thank you for looking into this.

    Hi,

Looking at the log, it sounds rather like the previous PHP version had some expected module missing, causing a crash. Any idea which one? i.e. what PHP modules are installed in the new PHP version, compared to the old?

    Hi David,

Here’s what the hosting provider for this site said :

“I updated from php 5.6.17 to php 5.6.19, on a debian server.

“It was weird too, as I’ve been using Updraft on a separate server without issues.”

    Hope this helps.
