• Recently, the menu item of the Plugin BackupBuddy is not shown anymore. De-/Activating it shows it again for a short time, but access for site admin to /wp-admin/admin.php?page=pb_backupbuddy_backup and all other submenu itemsis being prohibited.
Even when Admin Menu Editor is deactivated, even when the menu settings have been restored to default.

The changes that you can make in the “Admin Menu” tab are not permanent – they only apply while the plugin is active. Any problems that might have been caused by editing the admin menu would have immediately disappeared after deactivating the plugin. Since that didn’t happen in your case, the problem is probably not related to this plugin.

Does the site have any other plugins that can edit the admin menu or role capabilities? Disabling/removing the role capabilities associated with a menu item can make the menu inaccessible, and that effect would persist even after deactivating the relevant plugin.

Thank you for this professional statement. Important for me is to know that changes are not permament.
The plugin User Role Editor is inactive, but makes permanent changes – anyway, there are no plugin specific capabilities regarding BackupBuddy.
Still suspect is the fact that BackupBuddy does not appear as an itme in on /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=menu_editor – on the other hand, BackupBuddy does not appear in backend either (as mentioned before).
I′ll take further investigations and will get back to you, in the meantime any comment is welcome.

In case it helps, I checked what capabilities BackupBuddy uses on one of my sites, and it looks like most BackupBuddy menus require the activate_plugins capability. You could try verifying that your role(s) have this capability.

TRILOS, have you resolved this BackupBuddy issue? Having exactly the same problem on one site, even though I don’t have the “Admin Menu Editor” plugin. Would appreciate any response!
