• Hello,
    I have been using BackWPup for years now, I have been very happy until I tried two days ago to setup a backup to S3 Bucket.

    I do not manage to get it working. I always get a “ERROR: S3 Bucket “XXXXXX” does not exist!”

    The bucket XXXXXX exists, the permissions have been checked.
    It seems the issue is really on BackWPup side as I managed to do some backup with another backup plugin-in I tried.

    I would really appreciate any help as I have spent hours to look around; I have seen some similar issues but still I’m struggling to find the solution in my case.

    Running on latest version of BackWPup. Region checked. I can select my bucket in the dropbox.

    Thanks a ton in advance for any help.

    Kind regards,

    RBP

    Hello,
    I tried it, actually it still does not work but I cannot select the right Amazon region, my bucket is in the region Europe West Paris which is not listed with the 3.9.1. Is there a way to add it somewhere by patching something?

    Strangely enough the bucket still appears in the drop down list as soon as I enter a set of keys.

    Your help is the still welcome.

    Kind regards,

    Any idea?

    The problem is that this plugin doesn’t use the AWS SDK. It also breaks other plugins.

    Thanks, I tried but without success, is the issue a common one?
    Now I wonder if my aw S3 is properly configured. (But it works with another tool)

    Thanks.

    @duongcuong96

    Are you now using the official AWS SDK? If not, you will continue to have problems.

    @rbpe26
    which S3 destination did you using now exactly?
    If you did not configure S3 location correctly, the issue S3 bucket not exist will happen.

    @tresero yes we using AWS SDK

    Hi,
    I am using a common S3 in the region EU (Paris) eu-west-3.
    I can confirm the bucket is fully functional and access is ok.
    When entering the key as parameters I immediately get the existing buckets to select.
    Nevertheless when executing the backup it fails with the message bucket inexistent .
    I tried the version you sent me
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi again,

    I retested carefully with the build you sent me 1474.(uninstall/reinstall from scratch)
    I can attest the behaviour is still the same.
    I can create a task, select S3 service, then from S3 tab, select region, enter Access key + secret key. then I can select the bucket, so it exists and is visible and accessible.
    Nevertheless when I execute the task I get always the same message Bucket XXX doesn’t exist where XXX is the correct bucket name.

    I check the access to the bucket via the set access Key+Secret key, it works with another plug-in so this is ok too.

    Any idea? I am still keen to make it works as I like your plug-in. Should you have idea how to investigate please let me know.

    Kind regards,

    I started using BackWPup just a week ago as a replacement for UpdraftPlus which created a huge cpu load on the server. BackWPup is now configured on different sites, all using the AWS S3 as backup destination. Some are performing as intended, while other are suffering from the problem described here by @rbpe26 : Bucket does not exist. I have exactly the same situation : entering AWS keys enables the bucket drop down , where the bucket is visible. All parameters are OK, but still mentiones “bucket does not exist” in error log.

    It is strange to see this post being marked as resolved , while I don’t see a working solution ??

    FYI :
    * WP version 5.4.2
    * BackWPup version 3.7.1
    * AWS S3 locations : Germany & Ireland
