    Hi Guys,

I have enabled BACS in my WooCommerce online store, but the order status automatically changes to ‘Processing’ instead of ‘On hold’ when a customer places an order. I am unable to confirm whether the money has arrived or if the customer has transferred the funds.

I would like the order status to be ‘On hold’ when a user places an order through BACS, and I will manually switch it to ‘Processing’ after confirming that the payment has been received. What should I do?

    Thanks!

  • Hi @louqi ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that payments made using BACS are automatically changing to “Processing” rather than “On-Hold”, is this correct?

By default, payments made via BACS are set to “On-Hold” and require manually updating the order status to “Processing” or “Complete”. You can read more about this in our support documentation below:

This is not something I am able to replicate on my test site, as placing an order using BACS, the payment status changes to “On-Hold” automatically, and not “Processing”

Please can you clarify the following:

    • Do you perhaps have any plugin which manages order statuses?
    • Have you made any custom modifications or added code snippets to your site? If so, please review them to ensure that they are not interfering with the order status behavior.
    • Does this occur with all product types, or only specific product types (i.e. variable, simple, digital/downloadable)?
    • Is this a new issue, or one that has been present ever since enabling BACS as a payment method on your site?

    Looking forward to your response!

    Hi Roxy,

Thanks for the quick reply and clarification. It made me realize that there might be a problem with one of my installed plugins.

I find that I had a fraud detection plugin installed, which had a setting that automatically set the status of the order to “processing” when it detected the order as low risk.

I have changed that setting, and the problem is solved.

Thank you very much. You have been a great help. ??

    Hi @louqi ,

I am really glad to hear that you have managed to find the culprit – nice work!

I will go ahead and mark this as resolved then, feel free to create a new topic if you need further help ??

Also, if you have a few minutes, we’d love it if you could leave us a review:?
