BacWPup 2.0 and WP 3.2 totally broken

I’m having problems even after making the recommended changes by Daveshine. It’s not creating zip archives. Switched to TAR archives and all seems fine.

Zip issues might also relate to web server I guess…?

Well most of us have previously been using BackWPup and zipping files just fine. I know he had support for both the pclzip and zlib libraries.

Final got a log, only in email, never saw anything on the screen. Here’s an example:

I’m having problems creating zip files as well. This used to work on the same server with the old 1.x version. I’m getting an error:

Fatal error: Class ‘ZipArchive’ not found in /wp-content/plugins/backwpup/job/backup_create.php on line 18

have the same problem.

The plugin don’t create zip-archives.

the error on line 248 can solve with a siple job open and save agian.

The false dashboard messages and the too many retrys fixed hopfuly in next version too.

i have teste many time but not every time with old job data! sorry for that.

The trys will only set on plugin activation or on edit settings.

hmmm.. on my test zip creation works fine can i have logs or so.

Perhaps your zip libray detection is not working. I note that I finally got a backup to run on one site. When making the zip it reported trying to make a PCLZIP file. This server has ZLIB but not PCLZIP?

In this case it stalls at the zip amd retries

Like other here I updated to WP 3.2.2 and BackupWP 2.0 – same problems as stated by others posting here. No problems under prior versions.

The Backup fails after 15 attempts and generates an error log message which I can preview on the WP Dashboard.

I hope Daniel can come up with a resolve quickly and post it as an update. This is a great plugin and much needed.

Sigh. OK I went into the job to try to change from ZIP to TAR. Went to save changes. Click, nothing. No matter how many times I click the Save Changes button it does nothing.

In the pre-2.0 version of the plugin, this is the log entry when it tried to create a zip file:

Create Backup Zip (PclZip) file...

Now, this is what it says:

1. Try to create backup zip file...
 1. Script stop! Will started again now!

If I change the backup to tar.gz it works great, so my problem is definitely related to zip creation. What information can I get for you to help you figure out what is going wrong?

I tried changing the archive saving from .ZIP to some variant of .tar and in each case the operation ended in an error just as it did with the .ZIP format.

So for my site at least I do not think it has anything to do with the type of compressed file it creates.

Has anyone tried the prior version of BackupWP with the WP 3.2.2?

The second log is before I changed the retrys and runtime settings.

As of now everything is working fine. TAR or ZIP, doesn’t matter to me.

I looking at this a guessing a CHMOD permissions issue that the BackWPup Plugin is not resolving correctly –
