Would anyone know why installing Bad Behavior generates the loss of the admin panel with a 403 error?

I did it on a friend’s site last night. Uploaded the new 2.0.10 to her site, then went in and activated it, and was greeted with a 403. Any page I went to in the admin also generated a 403. I deleted the plugin from her server and all went well.

This was a first for me. Would I just be better off moving over to Spam Karma instead?

  • Could be a file was corrupted at upload or a configuration problem with her host. If your friend is hosted on godaddy, that’s the likely problem.

No, she’s not. It was the weirdest 403 I’ve ever seen, though. It was a message from what *looked* like the host, that said I was blocked for trying to use something malicious – that whatever I had done matched some algorithm for “malicious activity”. It was a custom 403 error, and the impression I got was that the host had implemented something for this to happen.

EDIT: you’re right – it *is* GoDaddy. I didn’t even think to ask her about this. Nice. Anyway, the error said to contact the site owner to fix the issue (LOL – that’s why she asked *me* to do this, because she has *no clue*!)

It’s very odd, though – I’ve installed this stuff on GoDaddy servers before (or I *think* I have…never really paid attention), and this is the first time this has happened. I wonder what needs to be reconfigured to make it work on GoDaddy?

Uhhh… what? I use GoDaddy hosting and Bad Behavior with no issues.

There is no GoDaddy specific problem with Bad Behavior.

Well, possibly. I only switched to them in November. Still, it works fine right now.

    Wow…. this support forum rocks!

I took about 15 min to respond (was on the phone) and by that time there were 4-5 new responses and the thread was marked as resolved!

    Good job!
