Bad Bot Blocker – "rank-checker.online"

    Hello,

    The bad bot blocker is working to block most bots, and I add new ones as they come up. But I cannot seem to get it to block “rank-checker.online” which originates from Russia.

    I have checked the htaccess file manually and the “rank-checker.online” record is there. But the referrer is still being shown in Google Analytics, days later.

    Thoughts?

    Google referrer spam is something different and you have to block that in Google Analytics. Here’s a good article about this – https://www.theedesign.com/blog/2015/blocking-spam-referral-traffic-from-google-analytics

    I respectfully disagree, this plugin has been extremely effective in blocking these bots, just not this one in particular.

    But you’re referring specifically to Google referrer spam which we do not block. Read the article I linked to which goes into detail about Google referrer spam.

    I have read that article and others like it.

    It’s not just Google Analytics spam. I simple mentioned a tool used to see the traffic.

    I want it blocked from my logs, like all the other referrers your plugin blocks. It literally blocks all of them except this one.

    You can try blocking this through your .htaccess file by adding a rule to block that referrer. If that doesn’t work then contact your hosting company and see if they can help.
