Bad design or good design?

  • Hi guys,
    I’ve done this site for a client. The client has dictated exactly as it should be. I don’t like black sites, particularly for the market he is aiming for, but what the client wants the client gets!

    He convinced its good because his customers tell him its good but as i have said nobody will call you to tell you they don’t like your site!

    any honest or blunt opinions are apprieciated, and suggestions.

  • I agree that black is a bad choice for selling blinds, but it’s his choice. I like it overall, but have a couple suggestions.

    First, the contrast is very high, and it hurts my eyes to look at. Is it possible to reduce the contrast within the client’s specifications?

    Second, I’m imagining that when the client said “black”, he wanted the site to look sort of like a room with all the blinds closed – not black, just darkened. Not sure how you’d achieve that though.

    The site is okay. Some issues I noticed were the search text displays in the top, left corner and the scroll to top didn’t work. I, too, am not a huge fan of the dark color your client wanted. Just seems weird contrast. Lol.

    Well you know that already. Bad colour scheme for the subject.
    Like, really bad.
    But you did a great job of it…

    Yes not quite my cup of tea but at least it stands out from the crowd I suppose! The LHS menu is a bit murky, I’d made that a fresher colour, and I don’t care at all for the red copy, it looks like an error message. The arrow icons don’t show up enough on the red either.

    I’d like it better if it had a lighter background.
