• I love the idea of a built in page builder for WP… unfortunately, this is a bad experience and not even close to being ready for wide distribution… if this is releases as it is right now, I’ll move all my clients to wix or squarespace… at least with then I KNOW they are aware how poor the experience is for their customers….

  • It would be great if you could enumerate some of the deficiencies; I doubt the moderators are going to let this review stay around very long. ??

I think that at this stage the new editor is a replacement editor, not a page builder, so if you were to take that view, what sort of problems do you see right now? If it were an optional plugin, would that change your review?

If it were an optional plugin, would that change your review?

If the Gutenberg team finally realized it could be a good idea to leave it as a plugin, this is good news for many many people afraid to see their websites destroyed by gutenberg, either immediately with wordpress 5.0 or in the future when the classic editor will not be supported anymore.

What if Gutenberg in the core creates conflicts with other plugins, even with the classic editor plugin installed? Who’s working with their websites like myself can’t take the risk, so I disabled the auto-update on my host and will stay with 4.9.

If Gutenberg stays as a plugin, you’ll save headaches to thousand of people. If in time it will get better, it will be installed in many many websites like Akismet. It could replace “Hello Dolly” I guess, thas is useless… but harmless

I made some changes to the wording of the review, they merely replace the terrible word usage with “experience” or derivatives of that terminology.

I’d say it doesn’t serve any purpose to ask “what if it was optional”, this is not an avenue we are pursuing and therefore only adds confusion, or incites negative responses.

Now, on to Gutenberg it self, it’s not done, it won’t go in as it is right now, this is beta software, and we’ve invited everyone to help test it, so you need not worry that this is the end result. I would love to hear some more about what experiences you found bad about it, and as @bkjproductions mentions, it’s only a post editor, and not a page builder, so would love to hear your experiences with that aspect in mind?
