• If you just need some simple forms, the plugin works nice and the UI is very nicely styled and the UX is good.

But if you need more, then the plugin shows so many flaws. You can’t use the input from one field as the default value of another. Only in the HTML field you can use dynamic field values, but only label and value (for selects for example), but not calc values. You can’t use the same value in selects, because the dropdowns only show unique values, duplicates are stripped. And the list goes on and on.

If you need more complex stuff, the plugin (and we own the Pro version and this is true for this version too) is too limited in its possibilities. This plugin could be much better and could solve more use cases, if they would look at this edge cases, but this would mean to listen about users …

… which brings me to my next point: support.

We contacted the pro support and even after they see those problems, there is no interest in fixing it. No workarounds or interest in extending the plugin. Does not work, your problem.

If the support is writing that there is no solution and you already fixed the problem with a workaround for hours then your support is failing massively for its purpose.

    Hello @zodiac1978,

Thank you for your comprehensive feedback regarding our plugin. We sincerely appreciate the time you took to share your experience in such detail. We regret that our product didn’t meet your expectations in several areas, and for that, we apologize.

Your input is invaluable to us, and we take all feedback seriously, particularly when it concerns improving both our product’s functionality and our customer support. We understand that meeting complex needs requires continuous improvement, and we’re committed to addressing your concerns.

We’ll carefully review each point you’ve raised, including the limitations regarding dropdown values, calc value shortcodes, and dynamic field values. These suggestions will be added to our feature request list for future consideration.

Regarding the issue you’re experiencing, Fluent Forms currently does not offer a dynamic default value shortcode for input fields. Currently, dynamic field values can only be displayed within custom HTML fields. However, we’ve taken note of your request and have forwarded it to our team as a feature suggestion for future updates.

Additionally, Fluent Forms currently supports shortcodes for selection-type fields (radio, checkbox, select) that pull the label and value. The calc_value, however, is specifically used for calculations, and there is no shortcode available for it at this time. We’ve also submitted this as a feature request for future consideration.

Lastly, dropdown values are designed to be unique for a couple of important reasons:

    • User experience: Allowing multiple options with the same value can confuse users when making selections, potentially leading to errors or misunderstandings.
    • Data integrity: Duplicate values could impact the accuracy of any logic or calculations based on the form’s data. For example, if both “Male” and “Female” options were assigned the same value (e.g., ‘gender’), it would be difficult to determine which option was selected, especially when using conditions or processing the data.

Regarding our support team’s response, we acknowledge that it didn’t meet your expectations. We’re taking steps to ensure our support interactions better address customer needs and provide more comprehensive solutions.

We value your continued feedback and insights which will help shape future product developments and improvements.

Thank you again for sharing your experience. We look forward to the opportunity to better serve you in the future and provide a more seamless experience.
