• I was looking for a solution to incorporate Stripe into our donation program, however, you have to pay the company for that feature despite the description saying it was free with no fees.

  • Hi @j2dw,

Thank you for leaving a review. I’m sorry if you feel that our presentation or marketing is misleading in any way. That’s definitely not our intention!

Could you point me to any page or part of our description that you felt was particularly misleading? We would really appreciate the opportunity to improve things so that it’s crystal-clear what is included.

    Cheers,
    Eric

“Charitable is different. We won’t charge you any transaction fees and you can use Charitable for free.”

Thanks for the reply @j2dw! I understand how that bit can be confusing. When we talk about transaction fees, were referring to the per-donation fees that many hosted fundraising solutions charge. e.g. 8% of every donation. But I can definitely see how that might feel misleading.

Can you suggest any way we can phrase that better?

    Cheers,
    Eric

p.s. By the way, if you’re looking for a free Stripe plugin, have you tried https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/stripe/? It’s not a donation plugin per sé but allows you to easily accept payments.

I suggest… “Charitable is different. We won’t charge you any transaction fees and you only pay to access certain features.”

@j2dw I like that! I’ll work on a rewriting that now.

    @j2dw What about the following?

Charitable is different. We won’t charge you any transaction fees for the donations you receive through Charitable, and you can use the core Charitable for free, forever. We support Charitable’s development through extension purchases, which add extra features.

From your perspective would that have made it clearer to you that not everything is free? Even though there are some paid features (like Stripe), I do want to make it clear that Charitable itself is free. The vast majority of people find the functionality included in the core plugin enough for their needs.

    Cheers,
    Eric

    That sounds better.

Thanks @j2dw — we have made that change.

I really appreciate your feedback, particularly the fact that you have come back to comment.

I have one last request: Would you mind reconsidering your rating? ??

    Cheers,
    Eric

I am new to WordPress and chose Charitable Plus after looking at the various options provided by other donation plugins. I’m surprised by this review, as even though new to this, I was never in any doubt that I needed to pay to get facilities such as Gift Aid or Stripe.

I’m very pleased with the support I had from Charitable in helping to set up my form and on reading their response to this review I’m most impressed by their response and going the second mile to take feedback on board and act on it.
