    Good Day!

    Today, we received a notice in the backend to update your plugin from 1.3.5 to 1.3.6.

    Unfortunately, your plugin update now requires that we buy a license from you.

    What’s going on? Are you going to update your plugin page to announce that 1.3.6 requires that we pay for you plugin? Isn’t that what your PRO version is all about?

    Also, your “bait and switch” tactic does not agree with WordPress’ Guidelines for Developers.

    Please advise. If we have to start paying for your plugin, we’re switching to a more honest, free SMS plugin like [ deleted ]
    Thank you!

    I’ve deleted your recommendation to use another plugins.

    Starting a topic to ask about the “upgrade” as you’ve done is cool. If you can send the details to the plugins team via [email protected] I know they would be grateful.

    Adding a link to another plugin in this plugin’s support section? That part is not cool and a little on the side of trolling. That’s the part I deleted.

    @jdembowski,

    Agree. We’ll follow your recommendations.

    While you’re at it, can you edit our post and replace “… free SMS plugin like [deleted]” with “… free SMS plugin.” ?

    Thank you!

    Hi
    That’s not true.
    The free version on wp.org repo is and will be always free.and since version 1.1.0 we added a pro version which is not forced to be purchased.

    Look at the version of the plugin is 1.1.5 ?? which means you either purchased the pro version before from freemius (third party marketplace) or you opted-in to receive updates from them.. not from wp.org.

    You can still use the free version of the plugin.. no need to pay anything neither the addons or the pro version.we built it to help users with sms integration to WordPress.
    If you still believe that you misled by any meaning.I am really sorry to leave that impression.not our intention at all. You can try to make a fresh install. Pf the free plugin you are using now.. and install a new one.and opt-out from any other third party provided of the plugin.

    I am here to help you with if you still face this one.and even give you a license of the pro version( if needed ) and sorry again.

    Regards

    @spartac,

    Thanks for the quick reply. Honestly, we paid for nothing and do not recall opting in for anything. We simply installed your plugin prior to 1.3.5. What you see above in our screenshots is exactly what we got today. We always had the “FREE” Plan. (see below)

    wp-sms-for-wordpress-free-plan

    Following your instructions, we went back to our plugins dashboard and clicked on the “OPT OUT” link you mentioned. If we “OPT OUT” we will no longer receive plugin updates according to the pop-up we get (screenshot below, click here as well), so, something is not right. Please revisit the update logic of your plugin and correct it.

    wp-sms-for-wordpress-update-logic

    And since we’re on the subject, please confirm which is your latest official plugin revision level.

    Lastly, if we perform a fresh install, how do we export/import our settings? It doesn’t look like you plugin has that option in Settings. There’s a lot of info that we need to input into your plugin.

    We’ll refrain from OPTING OUT until we learn more from you.

    Cheers!

    PS: Thank you for your PRO license offer. If we can’t fix the above, we may have to accept your offer. We will reach out to you using your plugin’s Contact Us portal.

    Hi,

    I am sorry I wasn’t notified by your replies.
    After checking out all the instructions above, I can confirm that there was a bug , The version on freemius is 1.3.6 and on wp.org is 1.3.5,we didn’t push the new update of the plugin on wo.org repo and that made all this confusion.
    and we didn’t see it before we already had that version on our local machines (1.3.6) no need to prompt the upgrade to download it.

    What happened that once you opted to freemius, the system was notified that there is a newer version (1.3.6) , and although there is a free version on FREEmius repo, but it was calling the upgrade to the pro version, instead.

    All this happened without being aware of it,We are going to fix it immediately by upgrading the version on wp.org repo.
    I have tested it again on a fresh new wp install on my machine, and it seems to show now such scenario anymore. but please if you notice any weird behavior like that one, please report it.

    I am sorry one more time for all this inconvenience.

    (@spartac)

    Just to confirm a point.
    The plugin on wp.org is free and you’ll receive the upgrades of it, either you opted-in to Freemius or not.
    The updates system is the same for all the plugins.once there is a new version of wp org repo, You get notified and you update it freely like any other plugin.

    That notice from Freemius is saying you will not receive updates or notifications from Freemius which you agree to opt in, not Wp.Org..

    Try to Opt-out and You’ll get the plugin works without any issue… You’ll even get rid of the Green Sub menus (Account).if you optout, You detach your plugin from the system of Freemius and and this confirms that the opt-in option is not mandatory.You can still skip that form.

    here is how To skip it.

    After I opted-out, I can use the plugin properly.

    if you check out the plugin settings and options, they are working as described and everything works seamlessly as per description and features in the plugin’s page.

    @spartac,

    Thank you so much for repairing the condition we reported.

    Based on your information, we deleted then re-installed your plugin. Everything is now working perfectly.

    As promised, we posted a five-star review. Job well done.

    For future reference, what email can we use to contact you? Is support[at]wpsms[dot]io the proper email to use?

    Again, thank you!

    I too am getting a MUST BUY LICENSE issue in order to get an update to 1.3.6 (from 1.3.5). I never opted into Freemius or anything. And this is apparent because the plugin has an Opt In text link on the plugins screen, not an Opt Out link!

    I don’t want to disable/delete the plugin until I know that it will reinstall correctly. Will removing the plugin result in loss of settings (or will they stay in the database and automatically be present on reinstall)?

    Please advise resolution.

    Hi @darklightlaser
    It’s not logical if you didnt optin into Freemius ..and even if you did nothing must force you to buy anything.. this is how it should work.because the version in wp org repo is 1.3.6 and it’s free and anyone can download it and install it either manually or using the builtin updater of WordPress.

    I have tried it myself now.I have installed version 1.3.5 in a fresh new wp install..I didn’t optin .. then I clicked Update it to 1.3.6 … Nothing appears differently ?? although I wished to replicate it to resolve it immediately.

    I will then contact Freemius team promptly to look into this one.
    The free version is a free one and will be always free .. no bait or tricks must be there.and we will keep improving it.

    I will keep this topic open and keep you updated with freemius resolution of it.
    I am sorry again for for such inconviniece.

    Best regards

    Hi everyone.
    I have talked to Freemius team and they pointed me to a glitch in the code of 1.3.5, which I couldn’t replicate during all the last attempts of installing new versions, because my emails were already opted-in to have a premium version, so no need for that notice to appear.

    To resolve this, you can either delete the plugin and download and install a the new version (1.3.6) manually.

    Or browse the plugins files through wp-admin => plugins => plugins editor => find WP Core Twilio => edit the file named ” core ”
    find this line #43 ,

    'is_premium' => true,

    Change it to :

    'is_premium' => false,

    Then save it and upgrade the 1.3.6.

    @darklightlaser,

    To fix your issue, perform the following:

    (1) Save your Account and WPSMS information in a separate file.
    (2) Deactivate and delete V1.3.5.
    (3) Install and activate V1.3.6.
    (4) Enter information saved in Step (1).

    @spartac,

    When is the Export/Import Settings feature going to be released? It would help us tremendously!

    Cheers!

    Thanks @jetxpert & @spartac

    Uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin solved the issue.

    Thanks heaps!
