    Using iThemes Security V5.2.0

    I have a custom XML layout for my embedded Bandcamp player, using an text layout file and /crossdomain.xml setup to allow access to it. However, it is generating a 403 error and I find this corresponding message in my error logs:
    Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use ‘LimitInternalRecursion’ to increase the limit if necessary. Use ‘LogLevel debug’ to get a backtrace.

    Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use ‘LimitInternalRecursion’ to increase the limit if necessary. Use ‘LogLevel debug’ to get a backtrace.

    I don’t have access to Apache on this machine (Dreamhost shared hosting), so I don’t think I can do any more debugging, but turning off iThemes Security allows things to work again.

    This is a fairly recent issue, though I’m afraid I don’t know exactly when it started and what version of iThemes Security introduced it (though I may go and install older versions to get at least some security active on my site).

    Update: iThemes Security V5.0.1 has the problem, V4.9.0 does not.

    The layout config file for the embedded Bandcamp player lives outside the WP directory structure (/bandcamp/player-cfg.txt, to be specific). I am able to access that config file directly in my browser, it’s the call within the iframe/flash that’s failing.

    You’ll probably need to disable iTSec plugin features one by one and see whether it makes any difference.

    If enabled start by disabling the Banned Users section HackRepair.com blacklist setting. No result, start disabling any System Tweaks section settings.

    Haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but try to do so soon.

    @capecodvalet

    Ok no problem.
    While you are at it also test and see whether this is still an issue in the 5.2.1 version of the iTSec plugin released yesterday.
