A banner ad for the “WP Checkup” plugin appeared at the top of my Admin dashboard page. I clicked the “close” button. When I navigated to the comment management page, the same banner appeared again. Again I clicked the “close” button. When I navigated back to the dashboard page, the same popup reappeared. Again I clicked the “close” button.

Someone kindly tell me how I can delete this annoying popup forever? I will now never, ever, EVER use that plugin, no matter what. There has to be a better tool than one designed by someone who thinks this is a great way to attract customers.

  • Hey everyone,

We released an update around 6 hours ago, it’s been tested with a couple of ad blockers and is working for myself (Tim) and our QA.

Given the ubiquity of browser ad blockers, might I suggest y’all integrate that assumption into future development and testing?

We do have a QA process which should always be followed, I’ve passed this feedback along to ensure it’s also a consideration for future testing prior to a release.

Give the update a shot, you should be good to go. Any issues, please open a ticket in the Custom Sidebars forum to ensure we don’t miss it.

Thank you for your patience and once again, we’re really sorry that this happened.

Thank you very much, that seems to have done the trick. FWIW, I still find the ‘add a pop-up banner’ marketing tactic rather repellent, but if I can at least dismiss it, it’s bearable– I won’t go to the extent of finding a replacement for Custom Sidebars just yet.

I’ll go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. Forums and thread have worked exactly as they should, so thanks and kudos all around.
