The banner plugin was working fine, suddenly started to show only the word “undefined”. Nothing has been changed or updated on the website

    Hi @ankurfox
I’m seeing it show “FESTIVE RANGE:?GANESH CHATURTI 2024?|?DIWALI 2024“. Did you do anything to fix it? I recently updated the plugin to support multiple banners, so there may be an issue on the upgrade that i need to address. Thanks!

Strange, which browser did you check this from? I checked from another browser (edge) where I have not logged in as a customer and I see what you see.

On the original browser (chrome), where I also access the backend, I’m logged in as the admin. There I still see “undefined”.

I logged out on the original browser (chrome, updated to latest) and checked, it still shows undefined.

Can you check maybe there’s a compatibility issue somewhere with chrome?

    Also, hi

I was checking on Chrome, I also checked on Firefox, Edge, and Safari, all on a Mac computer and it all looked good. I’m wondering if it could be a caching issue? Can you check how the banner looks when you view your page in incognito mode?

And just for my information, when it showed up undefined, did the banner show up correctly but the text said undefined instead of your “FESTIVE RANGE:…” text?

Sorry for the multiple messages. I think I know what may have happened. The plugin does a check on the banner text to see whether to show it or not but it only checks whether it’s an empty string (“”). With the addition of multiple banners, i think the other banners are initially undefined, so i need to check for that as well. I will put out a small fix for that shortly.

Hey @ankurfox I just pushed out a small bug fix, version 3.0.1, please update when you get a chance and let me know if you’re still seeing the issue.

hi @ankurfox all issues should be fixed in v3.0.2

    Hello Ryan,

    I encountered the same issue.

The problem stays when upgrading to v3.0.2

    Can you look into this?

    Thanks!

PS: thanks for creating this plugin!

    hi ryan.

i have the same issue. my banner shows “undefined” even after using v3.0.2.

Hi thanks! V3.0.2 seems to have resolved the issue for me. On some mobile devices I still see undefinied, i’ll give it 24 hours and see if it fixes itself.

@janverm @aaronwongxm could you post your site URLs so I can take a look? Thanks!

Hi @janverm @aaronwongxm Could you also clear your server-side cache and then view your site in an incognito window and see if that resolves the issue? Thank you.

@rpetersen29 clearing the server-side cache and viewing the site in incognito mode as admin doesn’t present the problem. Nor viewing the site as a visitor.

Only as admin in a normal window shows “undefined”.

Thank you, thats good to know. In that case it’s likely an issue of your browser cache. To see the issue resolved immediately you can clear your browser cache, but it should also clear over the next few hours.

    hi randy

updated the plugin again and cleared wp rocket cache. the “undefined” no longer shows. all good now.
