    Hey

I am setting up FluentSMTP in the most basic way possible.
I am also looking into setting up tutorials at a later time as well for https://easywebdesigntutorials.com/

    After installing and activating FluentSMTP.
    – Select PHP which seems like the most basic option.
    – From Email. I selected [email protected]
    – Test send an email by going to Email Test.

Let me know if there is anything else I should know at current stage or any adjustments that I should make. I assume that somewhere you also have a simple to follow setup of SMTP using the most basic settings.

    Thank you!

    Hello @paaljoachim,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the basic setup of FluentSMTP.

It appears that you’re currently using your hosting service as your email delivery provider. While this can work, it often comes with certain limitations and potential issues. We strongly recommend considering more specialized email delivery services that are reputable and specialize in this field, such as AWS SES, Sendgrid, Mailgun, Brevo, etc.

Since you asked, here is the documentation for all available connection types: https://fluentsmtp.com/docs/configurable-email-delivery-providers/

Here are some reasons why you might want to consider using a specialized email provider like AWS SES (Simple Email Service) or a similar service:

    • Deliverability:?Specialized email providers often have dedicated infrastructure and expertise to ensure that your emails are reliably delivered and reach recipients’ inboxes. They implement various techniques to maintain high deliverability rates, such as proper email authentication, reputation management, and monitoring for spam complaints.
    • Reputation Management:?Sending emails from your hosting server’s IP address can impact its reputation, especially if other users on the same server are sending spam or low-quality emails. Specialized email providers maintain their reputation and take proactive measures to prevent such issues.
    • Scalability:?As your email volume grows, you may encounter limitations with your hosting provider’s email service. Specialized email providers like AWS SES are designed to handle large volumes of emails efficiently and can scale with your needs without affecting performance.
    • Speed:?You may face speed throttling and delivery failure notifications. This is another important factor to consider when choosing a better email delivery provider.

Overall, using a specialized email provider like AWS SES can offer several advantages over relying on your hosting provider’s email service. It provides better deliverability, scalability, analytics, compliance features, and reputation management, which can ultimately help you achieve better results with your email marketing efforts.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hey @ibrahimsharif

Thank you for the very quick reply and response with great depth!

I am now currently looking into the most basic way to setup FluentSMTP.
    When looking at: https://fluentsmtp.com/docs/configurable-email-delivery-providers/
I do not even see PHP listed in the list of Email providers or suggesting a from email address.

When setting up the basic SMTP as I have done with other similar SMTP plugins I have setup using PHP and from email address [email protected]. I just want to understand in relation to the basic setup of FluentSMTP if this is a good approach. Yes I do understand that using a service is usually more secure and reliable compared to using the web hosts email system.

    Thank you.
