Batch mode for Subscribe to Comments

I was using the Subscribe to Comments plugin but had to deactivate it. More than 50 people had subscribed to the comment thread for a particular post, and when Subscribe to Comments sent out notifications, it triggered a throttle that my webhost had set (50 emails in less than 5 minutes) and my email account was suspended. Is there any way to set up Subcribe to Comments so that it sends out the notifications in batches, so that it won’t trigger my webhost’s anti-spam protection?
