It seems it conflicts with certain plugins or older wordpress releases. Your meta box will be blank, the settings windows will be blank, and the news box on the dashboard won’t load right.

  • On a site I also experienced on some pages, that the content was gone in the frontend. Not in wp-admin though.

When I deactivated Yoast SEO 12.8, the content returned in the frontend.

Yes, the entire “SEO, Readability, and Social” tabs show up but are blank beneath each as you click on them so you can no longer edit any of the parameters inside any of those fields! Ugh.

How can we download, and downgrade to version 4.7.1 which worked perfectly? BTW I upgraded no other plugins, nor added any prior to this bug, meaning it started ONLY when I upgraded to 4.8 today!

NEVER Update to the first X.X-Release. Always wait for X.X.X-Fix. Yoast screws it up every time. ?? Their quality management is pretty bad.

Any way to manually downgrade to 4.7.1? I have a zipped copy but am not sure how to make that happen.

You upload the contents of the zip into the plugin folder via FTP
    (/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo)

Overwrite all the files then reactivate the plugin.

Also experiencing issues since upgrading to v12.8. None of the Yoast features are working at all now. It seems like some kind of glitch. Why are you downgrading your WordPress version instead of the Yoast plugin though?

I think he meant to type 12.7.1, not 4.7.1.

Yes, I meant going back to Yoast SEO 12.7.1. I uploaded the files to

    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo

It overwrote successfully and now some options, meta fields are available but several are still blanked out – for example, I cannot change the social media images (if you click on Facebook it just does nothing). I cannot change the Advanced options for search, such as the title…again, if you click on it, it does nothing. Javascript is not an issue, as I have reviewed this in the browser console and there are no errors.
