I think #707070 is too dark for the text background. It gives me a headache trying to read. Why don’t you pick up a lighter grey tone from one of the faces in the header?

Content: What’s wrong with the content I’ve chosen to post? Is there something other than the political aspect that is wrong with it?

Background Color: I’ll probably change it later today. I agree that it’s a bit dark. I was trying to get rid the bright white background; I was trying to get a format easy on the eyes.

Alright – I just disabled the registration requirement. I dunno why, but I’m certain I’ve turned that off a number of times. Is there a WP glitch that inadvertantly turns it back on?

#707070 – too dark. All the others I can find seem a bit silvery; don’t really want silvery.

Any suggestions for a lighter grey that would work well?

The grey background on the posts in this forum is #EEEEEE. It works well with black text. A similar light grey might be #F1F1F1.

The header image seemed to load slowly. I didn’t check out the file size, though.

There’s a white margin around the dates which makes it look a little messy. Maybe put the same background on that div as you have on the content?

Also, the comment section on the archive looks a bit clunky. Maybe make that the same bg color as the posts as well?

Breakingball: I tried that before and thought it too silvery. But I was pretty tired and had looked at million colors before it, so I may not have given it a good look. I’ll toss it up (probably tomorrow) and let me know if it works better.

Haecceity: I noticed that on my friend’s computer earlier today; it load quickly on mine, but then again it’s cached.

Date color: Good idea. I’ll try it.

Comments: I really dislike the comment section right now, but could not figure out where the code for the comment is. I looked for a long time, but go nowhere. But I agree with you, and am going to put some real effort into fixing it up tomorrow.

There is nothing wrong with your content. You asked for impressions. My impression is that you should positively have you comments open so that you can get some feedback on your strong views. Your content is why you have a blog! Glad you opened it up…I’ll be a civil anarchist when I visit ??

I didn’t find fault in your content, other than I disagree with what little I read that was political in nature..

It’s your blog though so thats cool with me. Lots of people disagree with my content. I don’t sweat them at all.

I will say this though — i don’t like the heavy usage of the greys. It looks over used and too dark for my own tastes.

No problem with the content either. The design… you have the most contrast in the least important areas. For example, the side bar is black back with white text. Why not have black and white in the main content area where presumeably you want readers’ eyes to look?

Other than the dark background for the text (which has been mentioned) the site looks good.
