I’ve updated Yoast today (15.2) and got this message

Because of a change in your home URL setting, some of your SEO data needs to be reprocessed.
We estimate this could take a long time, due to the size of your site. As an alternative to waiting, you could:

Wait for a week or so, until Yoast SEO automatically processes most of your content in the background.
Run the indexation process on your server using WP CLI.

Which I don’t understand as I’ve not changed my home URL setting.

    Can anyone help please?

    Hello @mrspumpkin,

    Thanks for reaching out!

From v15.1, the Yoast SEO plugin can now detect the home URL or permalink structure changes. And since it’s a significant change, Yoast SEO needs to run the SEO data optimization again. However, we understand that you haven’t changed anything related to the notice but you are seeing the relevant notification and it’s confusing for you; we apologize for any inconvenience.

Can you please confirm whether you have performed the SEO data optimization in WordPress > SEO > Tools page on your site’s dashboard? If not, can you please run the relevant analysis to see if that resolves the notice for you?

Also, since you seem to have a large site, you can wait for a week or so, until Yoast SEO automatically processes most of your content in the background.

However, if you have already performed the relevant analysis, can you please deactivate and reactivate the Yoast SEO plugin temporarily on your site to see if that drops the relevant notification for you?

    Hi @maybellyne

Yes, I’ve done the SEO data optimization in the past – when it was first introduced in a previous update.

So should I run that again?

@mrspumpkin Yes, we would recommend running it again. However, if you have a large site it’s we’d advise using the WP CLI command to do the indexation on the server. You can read more about this here:?https://yoa.st/wp-cli-index

The initial issue I have is Yoast telling me “Because of a change in your home URL setting, some of your SEO data needs to be reprocessed.”

However, I haven’t changed my URL setting – that is what I am concerned about here!

    @mrspumpkin

There is no cause for concern. Though you have not changed anything related to the notice, you just updated to Yoast SEO 15.2.

It is recommended that you run the SEO Data Optimization tool again but since you have a large site, there are two options:

    1. You can wait for a week or so until Yoast SEO automatically processes most of your content in the background. This is called lazy indexing
    2. You can use the WP CLI command to do the indexation on the server

    Thank you.
