Beginner Question

I have a large audio file that I want to use on my site. I’ve read and tried all of the tricks to allow for a larger upload (htaccess, ms-option, etc.) – none of them worked.

My dilemma isn’t uploading the files – I can do that with FTP. But I cannot seem to link to the mp3 media file once it’s uploaded. I can SEE it but the dashboard doesn’t find it, no matter what directory I put it in on the remote server.

I’ve had this problem with images that I don’t upload via the dashboard. How do I get the dashboard to find and allow me to work with these files that I upload via FTP?
