I have a page with this shortcode

    [display-posts category="podcast-episodes" include_excerpt="true" include_date="true" date_format=" — F j, Y" posts_per_page="999" ]

When I view this page (as an admin user, logged into the WP site) I see—as I expect—the most recent post matching that query, appears at the top of the listing. ie, it works perfectly.

When I’m not logged in however, the most recent post is missing from the listing. I [not logged in] can see the actual post in other places. It appears on the front of the site [WP set to recent posts on home page].

One oddity: This post has “(preview) ” as the beginning of its title. So perhaps something with parenthesis in the titles could be causing the difference? All the rest of the posts have always shown in the list for both me [logged in] and anonymous visitors.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’ve also discovered this post didn’t get distributed via ActivityPub, so I’ve posted an issue on GitHub about that, https://github.com/pfefferle/wordpress-activitypub/issues/274

But, is it possible o_O it’s the “(preview) ” string at the front of the title. There can’t be a “parens break WP queries” bug. . . ??

    ! It’s caching related.

I purged the cache for the page containing the shortcode, and the problem is resolved. The newest post appears when I’m not logged in. In hindsight, this makes perfect sense.
