    Hi there,

What benchmarks are available that I could use for automations pertaining to when an email is either opened or replied to?

Thanks in advance! I looked everywhere but can’t find how to do this…

    Best,

    Zane

    HI Zane,

There is currently no benchmark for email open related functions since, due to the way opens are tracked, it is not 100% reliable.

For opens to track properly a user must allow images to be shown, so rather than provide a benchmark that only works some of the time, we decided not to support it at all.

It would be much more reliable to use the link click benchmark instead and have users take some sort of action in the email.

Well, I suggest you add it and not offer a lesson on how you prefer things. Some of us have done this much longer. All other solutions allow for it. This is not good news.

@alwaysroot thanks for your input, if this is something you’d like to see added in the future feel free to request it’s addition in a future version! https://www.groundhogg.io/roadmap/

@trainingbusinesspros I’d like to throw my hat in the ring of wanting Open tracking benchmarks.

I added it to the feature requests as well.

Yes, it’s not perfect… but that doesn’t mean it isn’t useful.

For instance… a confirmed Open is useful for lead scoring, and building list hygiene automations.

In the past, I’ve built automations that set someone as “active” anytime they show any signs of life: Open, Click, Reply, Webvisit, Form Fill, etc….

If they go too long without showing signs of life, it triggers a “reactivation” sequence that looks for any of those things.

If I built the same automation using only Click tracking… I’d be cleaning off more of the list than makes sense to clean… and sending the reactivation sequence to more people than I would need to.
