benefit of Store Locator?

I was hoping the plug in would work in a way that a customer would key in their zip code and find suppliers in their area. Instead, if they key in their zip code, the suppliers disappear (a few dozen can be seen PRIOR TO keying in the zip code).
Have I failed to turn something on?

I’m using the free version but will buy it if it will work for me. Can I see an example of an actual website where this works correctly?
