Best at root, eh?
-
Hello.
I can’t specifically find the answer I’m looking for on these forums and I can’t really believe I’m the only one who has experienced this problem, and so – here goes.
I’ve had WP since 2.4-ish. Love it. I’ve been using it a lot lately because 3.0 really excites me. My blog has been at https://www.mydomain.com/blog since the beginning. Last night, I decided to set up multisite functionality. I decided on the subdirectory route because I thought it best matches my current style of https://www.mydomain.com/blog .
The problem is, I got everything working and such, but now all of my posts are actually found at https://www.mydomain.com/blog/blog/~permalink-structure
Which means that all of my work is 404ing when coming in from Google. OK, well, it’s likely only me hitting the site, but … still.
Based on what I have read after this tragedy has occurred, it appears like I need to do a few things.
1.) Backup everything (again)
2.) Export the existing blog
3.) Uninstall WordPress at https://www.mydomain.com/blog
4.) Re-install WordPress at https://www.mydomain.comThen … will I be able to import all of my work, and get my blog to be pulled up at https://www.mydomain.com/blog and my new multisite blogs to come up at https://www.mydomain.com/somethingnew ?
Any tips on how to accomplish this?
Because … heh, looks like I dug me a pretty big hole here, I just want to ensure I’m digging the right way to get out.
Thanks for everyone’s help on these forums!
