I’ve tried a lot of backup solutions for WordPress, and I was so frustrated by all of them that I was using a script I wrote myself. BoldGrid’s backup and upgrade manager is the first one I’ve tried that runs reliably, doesn’t slow down my site, and even uploads all of my backups to my Amazon S3 bucket. One thing in particular I need is to keep my files in a reasonable format, which this one does by keeping it in a standard tar.gz. This means I can use it to migrate my sites easily from one host to another, or from my local development server to my hosted server.
