Used to be the best free solution
-
I appreciate that businesses need to make money, I am one myself. However, when the plugin just completely changes over to a different product with no warning and is missing features / has annoyances in the free tier it’s going to ruffle feathers. I guess with 1 million users they can afford to have some churn with an action like this and still be profitable. For me I was in the middle of a launch when I discovered this, so I’ve either got to eat the cost, on an ongoing basis, or try to renegotiate terms with the client at the 11th hour. On the hunt for an alternative solution now. Technically I paid them nothing before and I pay them nothing now, but they use people like me to boost their “social proof” and brag that they have a 1m user base. The free tier is a marketing tool, and now they have broken their contract with the user. Normally I would expect some kind of transition where you can got back to the old mode for a while, to give me chance to handle this, but they have dropped me in it with this abrupt remodelling of the plugin to a completely different product. To be fair to them, the new product does look polished, but it’s not what I installed.
