• Hi All,
Can anyone advise on the ‘best’ or easiest way to force my project thumbnails to display my favourite or best ones first——at the top?

Is it determined purely by date? Either Creation date, or last saved/modified?

From what I can see on this page for example,
    https://johnwhiteillustrator.com/wordpress/editorial-illustration/
when I create new projects they appear lowest in the page of thumbnails.

    Does one have to:
    – Use shortcode to display chronologically, with newest first,
    – and re-save the projects that are wanted at the top?
    – and change the dates to be older for the ones you want further down?

If so, it’s a bit of a weird way to manage them.
    Thanks ??
    John
    Thanks,

Hi John, the easiest way would be to create your own pages and then use the shortcode to show them chronologically.

    Hi Richard,
Yep, I have pages with shortcode, and they’re displaying reverse-chronologically at present——by default I presume because I haven’t specified forward or reverse..

But to shuffle project thumbnails around, is the only option to change their publication dates?

Yeah, if you want them in a certain order, rather than ascending or descending, you would need to shuffle dates. I’d like to see some sort of ability to reorder without having to change dates, and perhaps that will be something added in the future. I know it has been brought up, but it just depends where that lies on the priority list. Bugs get higher priority than enhancements.

Understandable. This is all free after all.

    I wonder if there’s a 3rd party plug-in? Must have a look.

A plugin would be a good way of doing that. A plugin developer could likely make one without too much trouble. I can’t help but think that it would be something that would be useful.

    It’d be brilliant.

I’m actually changing dates right now to re-order thumbnails, and it’s not too bad to be honest. At least, so far.

Great. Hope it continues that way. ??
