Best Most recent Forum Plugin with Free Ad ons ?

Hi All,

Im new here, but have searched the forums for recent information on the above subject. Unfortunately it all seems to be out of date.

Therefore, I am looking for some upto date info.

I want a forum plugin that works well, is simple to use, but also has alot of free add-ons or other plugins to compliment it. I was looking at simple press, but found that you have to pay for alot of add-ons and the same with other forum plugins.

So can someone just give me the pros and cons of the forums plugins that they have used and what the limitations are of each…. Thanks for
the input.

p.s. this is going to be my first attempt as a forum.
