• Despite the recent negative reviews I decided to buy the WP Project Manager Pro + BuddyPress Integration on 1/1/2016 to see what it was all about. I have been testing it for the past week. My initial impression is that it works but it leaves something to be desired.

In my case I run it on an e-learning website where group admins (teachers), group leaders (assistent teachers), students and developers can manage different projects.

Some of the things missing (in my case) is better control of user role capabilities. E.g.:
    * Show/Hide Projects panel in front-end and Project Manager panel in back-end for a specific user role.
    * Show/Hide individual projects inside projects panel depending on user role.
    * Assign users in groups to individual group projects.

I have also found a serious bug which makes it possible for a user role without administrator privileges to view all site projects from the back-end panel. I hope they will fix this issue soon and make the plugin even better by improving user role capabilities.

I have made similar suggestions using WeDevs support ticket system but they will only make these improvements if more users ask for it. I believe these suggestions could be of help in more cases. Please feel free to comment on this below. ??

    Best regards,
    Michael

    Hi Tareq,

Thanks for the quick reply. I look forward to see what you come up with. When you update the plugin I will be sure to make a second review.

For a better BuddyPress Integration I would also recommend that you integrate a Projects panel from the user profile. It would be very helpful if users could see which projects they are involved in from this panel. Most serious BuddyPress plugins have this option. See for example:

    Events Manager – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/events-manager/

    EM BuddyPress Integration – https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/buddypress/

Each user can see which Events he/she is involved with from an Events panel which can be accessed from their own profile.

Similar options exists for other plugins like bbPress & BuddyPress Docs.

    Best regards,
    Michael
