I’m new to WP (I’ve been reading this site and others for about a week). I can use WP to create a site, enter posts, and use the dashboard to customize. That part makes sense.

But I’m having some trouble getting traction on theme development. What do you recommend as the ‘Official’ learning path for WP? (I find myself going in circles and re-reading pages since I tend to follow all the links to additional info!)

  • The best one to go is the theme development section at the WordPress codex, I started there and I’m developing my own theme for my website. It’s all there, some things may be a little difficult to understand like the walker class that make the menus but aside from that I found everything well explained, detailed and with examples.

Thanks! I suppose with multiple readings I’ll eventually make sense of it. (Meanwhile, if anyone has a favorite tutorial site, feel free to list it!)

There are some good videos here:
