• Hello, We’ve recently installed this plugin. We want to use the WordPress site as a place to test a new line or products that are not offered on our main BC store front. When I synced BC to the WordPress install, I forgot to unassign the products at the BC end. SO I ended up with everything – which I do not want.

Is it safe to delete the categories and products from within WordPress?

Does this affect the BC store at all??

    Nervous.

The fastest way to fix this is to start over really. Remove the plugin and re-run the wizard. It won’t hurt anything, and won’t remove any custom code you’ve put into a theme or external plugin.

Thanks Topher. But just so I understand – if I did delete a category or product from the WordPress end – does it affect the BigCommerce end?

If you delete it from WP, a sync will bring it back. You could go into BigCommerce and remove all your products from this channel.

I did go into the BC end and Unassigned the products from the WP channel but they’re still showing. The sync is horribly slow (only 5 products per batch) but it’s been running since yesterday afternoon and has not even reached 10 products yet.

Something’s not right then. It should be doing about 1 product per second. Very large images associated with your products can make them import more slowly.

By far the fastest way to do this is to remove the plugin, re-install, and make a new channel and not import any on the initial import. Should take 4 or 5 minutes.

The issue with removing it is that we have a reseller and I’ll have to contact them to get them to authenticate the plugin to the BC store again. I’m new to the company so I’m reluctant to push them until I get a better handle on who’s who.

Ah, that makes sense. Then your next best bet is to manually remove them from the channel in BC.

Thanks mate. I’ve deleted the categories from within WP. The products that were Unassigned in BC were set to draft mode in WP when the last sync happened. I’d like to delete them but again – not sure if that deletes them from the BC store.

Now I’m working on presentation edits to the WP plugin files (using a child version under the theme).
