• Hi I am new to wordpress, I am in the process of replicating my eCommerce Squarespace site to word press. My squarespace domain name is miskinorganics.com.au . I have organised a new host and brought a new domain name https://www.miskinorganics.com ( I brought a new domain so I could build the new wordpress site while the old site is still running). I have set up my theme and stared to build pages and add commerce, I want my new wordpress site to run on the old domain .com.au and of course my sqaurespace and wordpress uls will be different so I will have to add in the 301 redirects to my wordpress site but i just realised that as I am building the pages the wordpress Urls are .com. Whats the best practice in going about this whole change? I do not want to do too much to the new wordpress site until I know the best practice.

looking forwards and thanking anyone that can help

  • Once you have all the content for the new site set up, point the old domain to the new site. (I’m assuming you manage your own DNS for that old domain)

Then, can install the Redirection plugin to handle the redirects from the old domain urls to the new ones.

You might want to make a list of all relevant old domains to be able to redirect (it’s going to be a big of a slog)

Thank you for your help. Redirection works well
