Despite having CleanTalk installed, I still get spam/bot registration to the site, and although they are usually harmless, occasionally, they manage to post in the forum, and recently, they even went through the checkout form (from s2Member) where the transaction was denied at Stripe level (I had almost 40 “different” users within an hour or so).

Some of those spam/bots, I can identify when they have a URL in their bio or they never confirm their email.

Should I set something differently than the default settings in CleanTalk?
If I find such spam/bots that still came through, how can I tell CleanTalk to block them (IP?) for the future?

    Hello.

Please, make sure that the plugin is activated and the access key is entered. After that please check all types of web form protections:

    • Registration forms
    • Comments form
    • Contact forms
    • Custom Contact Forms
    • WooCommerce checkout form
    • Protect external forms
    • Protect internal forms

If you can find these spam requests that were missed/allowed by the Anti-Spam plugin, you can mark them in your Anti-Spam Log: Your Anti-Spam Log [ https://cleantalk.org/my/show_requests ] —> Choose your website in the drop-down menu —> There are buttons “Spam” and “Not Spam” under every record —> Mark records using these buttons. This will help us to improve filtration.
    The guide is here: https://cleantalk.org/help/faq#feedback_spam.

Back to it. There was another such spam bot and they had time to post in the forum. From your description, there is no way to “flag” them as spam from the WP site itself and I always have to go to the CleanTalk website to “flag” them?

    Hello @cassel,

You can mark spam comments from the “comments” section on your site. As for other types of requests: registrations or contact form submissions, you can only mark them in your CleanTalk Dashboard.

    Thank you.
