Best theme I’ve used
-
As a web developer I usually custom build my own themes for my clients but sometimes I use commercial/pre-built themes in an attempt to save time or to get some specialised functionality. Generally I don’t like working with pre-built themes because they tend to be full of confusing configuration options that are unintuitively organised in multiple pages of theme options and throughout the native WP theme customizer. And they are usually tied in with 3rd party page builders which I’m not a fan of, I prefer Gutenberg. But Neve is by far the best pre-built theme that I’ve used. I’ve used it on three sites now and will be using it again.
What I love about Neve is:
- It works perfectly with Gutenberg
- Flexible – you have good control over the design
- Theme options pages are minimal, informational only – all configurations are in the theme customizer – i.e. uses standard WordPress approach
- Has some good starter sites that can be imported to help you get started quickly
- Good support – I’ve asked a few questions in the support section and received helpful answers from their support team
- The free version is actually very usable
