• I always hated shortcodes. The meaningless string wrapped with brackets was not good enough. Users struggled to understand what is a shortcode, and why they need to know how to “code a shortcode” into a WYSIWYG editor. It doesn’t make sense. We wanted more from the WordPress post editor.

Then, it came Shortcake. And I finally like shortcodes. No more meaningless pieces of code. Now we can see the real content (or at least a visual clue) of what we’re editing. Now we have a nice UI to work with shortcode attributes. Now we can create shortcodes that are so cool, and works so great, that user will never find out that they’re using a shortcode.

Please, merge Shortcake into core ASAP! ??
