• I have a wordpress website I’m building for a church, and they intend to use the posts portion to upload audio recordings of sermons and sunday school lessons. When using the add audio buttons with the built in media library, it creates a direct link to the mp3 file…so when a reader clicks the file, it downloads it and plays it via their default media player. Is this correct? I believe that is proper for podcasting, which I would like to do…but I’d also like the file to be playable directly via the web page. I looked at https://wpaudioplayer.com/ but does the [audio] tag break the podcasting function?

Whats the best way to handle this type of situation? These audio files will be the primary repeat content that is posted.

I’m not even sure the wpaudio player is compatible with 3 yet.

Wow, I’ve tried posting this to two different forums now, does anyone answer questions around here?

Have you tried “Audio Link Player”?

    www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/audio-link-player

From the screenshots, it looks as if it will keep the link (so you can right click and save it) and then also show a player beside it.

I haven’t tested it, so I’m not for sure if this is what it does or not.

The only trouble with Audio Link Player is that it forces a donation request panel – with the creator’s own face – to appear in your dashboard. You can disable it with “screen options”, but it reappears on every refresh. Very intrusive and very annoying. I pretty much avoid this guy’s (Dennis Hoppe’s) plugins now because of it.
