• Hello!

I have spent a lot of time creating my website via laptop, and am finally happy with how it looks!!! Only to find that it looks AWFUL on my phone ?? ?? :(. No idea where to go from here – I have tried adding plugins AMP for WP, Jetpack (which I was unable to sign into), Specific Content for Mobile, WordPress Mobile Pack, WP Mobile X, and WPtouch Mobile Plugin, one at a time; I so frustrated I am almost ready to ditch the entire site and start over again.

All I am hoping for is some SIMPLE way to see and edit how the site looks on on mobile, preferably without messing up how it looks on desktop. At this point, I might even be willing to pay someone, I just really would like to learn how to do this myself.

Thank you in advance for any and all help you can offer!!!

  • You parent theme, Twenty Seventeen is a responsive theme that adopts well for various screen sizes.

So: How did you change the layout and feel of your website? What tools did you use?

It’s possible that you have made some changes in your child theme where you replaced several of the original configurations in the parent theme without taking “media queries” into account.

But, in order to be more specific: What do you want to change? Why don’t you try plain “twenty seventeen” temporarily to see if there’s anything there that you’d like to “keep”?

It’s easier to help you with more specific questions, like: “How do I minimize the menu to a button for screens that are less than 540 px wide?”.

Ok! I have switched back to the Twenty Seventeen theme – Here are some of the issues I am seeing on my mobile:

    1. HUGE blank space between the header and the next part of the page – it’s like there’s another whole section there
    2. Logo is not showing up on the header
    3. Background of the header is ridiculously zoomed in
    4. Background of the page is the wrong color
    5. Width of the page is huge, with the background of the header behind it if you scroll to the right
    6. There is no menu anywhere

Thank you again for any and all help you can offer!!!
