Best way to force fulltime SSL/HTTPS for private site?

  • I’ve seen a few plugins like “Force SSL” and “HTTPS for WordPress” but none seem to be what i’m looking for. I am doing to private collaboration site and need all wordpress traffic to be done over SSL. “Force SSL” seems to be the closest, but it hasn’t been updated for over 5 years.

    Should this be done using a redirect in the .httaccess file or with a plugin or another method?

    Apologies in advance if this has been covered before, my searches came up empty.
