Best way to upgrade from 2.7.2 to 3.8.9?

    I have taken over the support for a webseite that still uses the free version of Neve 2.7.2. What’s the best way to upgrade to 3.8.9?
    When I do a simple theme update, the design get’s broken. Mainly header & footer but also some content parts. The site uses a Neve Child Theme.
    I also checked that this is not cache-related in any way.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately there isn’t a specific thing to suggest here. In this case, it’s most likely that some issues may appear, as the old version is quite old, and you are also using a child theme.

    The only things I can mention is to make sure you create a backup of the site before updating.

    The child theme will probably need a lot of customizations, depending on the code that it’s there already. ( it will need to be updated to the new version of the theme, hooks, functions and all of it ).
