• i installed the beta 2, by backing up my index.php and uploading all the appropriate files. but now my site will not display the comments themselves, the site name, and the posts themselves. you can view my site @ https://www.jezzjournal.com
i would really hate to lose my database, i would hope this is something that is easily fixable. I checked all the config.php files (wp and b2) and they seem to be in order. ideas?
i’ve left it as the basic index.php right now, so it’s the basic install package. i did move the style sheets around, so thats why it’s not showing the design. please help! ??

  • You were using WP072B1 before right? And that worked?

yes, it worked fine…. and then when i installed beta 2, where i was instructed just to overwrite the files, this is what happened… i would really love for someone to help me fix it! ??

    scooter,
I don’t think your data has gone because you can see the first few words of each post here https://www.jezzjournal.com/b2rdf.php
But I don’t know what has gone wrong.
A couple of points. You no longer need b2config.php , the code is no longer using that file.
Secondly can you see your posts and their contents on the post/edit admin page?
Finally, it is probably worth having a quick check over your template.

Odd, mine is doing that as well. Even when you click on a link with comments, the comments don’t show up, only the number next to it. I can’t see the content of the posts in the admin panel either.

If you didn’t backup your database you should now anyway before fooling around any more.
    # mysqldump –opt b2databasename > backupname.sql
will do it from a command line

Yeah, my database is fine too. I wish I had more ideas, but I’ve already tried what you tried too (re-installing, uploading all the files again, etc). Still not working.

Found the problem. For a temporary fix turn smilies on.

i suppose this problem will be fixed in the next beta, of course? ??

    Thanks Allusion. ??

Yes, I suppose fixing it would be a good idea. ??

meh, you can always just leave it in for fun? ??

I just upgraded from .72 Beta 1 to Beta 2 and got the same problem.
WordPress Support to the rescue! I found the solution here in less than two minutes, which is fantastic.
Just to clarify the fix for newbies like me: in the admin interface under General blog settings set use_smilies to true.
    Thanks!
