    Dear Fulvio, all,
I tried to install Beta 3.0 and I face some issues :
    – I’ve all the calendars erased.
    – Despite the fact I already a API google key, I’ve to reintroduce it, but It doesn’t lead to make the calendars reappear.
=> I didn’t see the process you mention for migration I should encounter.

Before creating everything… I would like to know if it’s normal ?
My wordpress release is the last one, and in french ?
    i don’t know it’s the reason.
As I was in living site, I make a restore of the site, because at this stage, I can’t have no data on my website.

By the way, why do we have >600 files instead of less 100 in previous release ?
    Many regards
    Vincent

    Hi Vincent,

no that is not normal, it should convert the key and the posts – at least that’s what it did on our tests and some other folks that tried it – would you mind checking again by following this link? perhaps you had an earlier version of the beta with some issue:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/2smkb3xe50rnvga/simple-calendar-3.0.0-beta2.zip?dl=1

was the API key the one bundled with the old plugin or one that you personally entered?

French should be supported just after launch: https://www.transifex.com/moonstonemedia/simple-calendar/language/fr_FR/ (is it you the same Vincent ?? thanks for help with the translations by the way) – I will send later on a message on Transifex, we need to import those languages here on www.ads-software.com – We will make use of the new language packs so the plugin can receive language updates regardless of plugin updates.

There are more files because the plugin does a few more things, but also a different organization – most files are small. This is mostly for development concerns. You can browse the source code here: https://github.com/moonstonemedia/Simple-Calendar

thanks a lot for your feedback!

    one more thing

just in case you want to try the beta at the link I just sent above in the same installation, perhaps it’s best you make sure you don’t have an option saved in db called simple-calendar_version

normally this isn’t necessary but I want to rule out the possibility that internally it has kept this option that holds the plugin version and if you install again 3.0.0 or a beta it won’t run the update scripts as it believes you still have 3.0.0 installed and there’s nothing to update

if you did a full restore of your db and installation this is unlikely necessary

but if you are unsure and are familiar with mysql you can look for it in the wp_options table – alternatively you can run this command once from your wordpress functions.php delete_option( 'simple-calendar_version' ); load wordpress once and then remove this code – later you can try again reinstalling Simple Calendar from beta or when 3.0.0 becomes available on www.ads-software.com

previous version of Google Calendar Events did not have this settings option so it won’t do any harm to it anyway

    Dear Fulvio,
    Sorry for my late answer.
I tried once again (this time without erasing everything, only a copy on the existing folder).
    => Same issue.
How do you rename the translation files.
    Is it google-calendar-events_fr_FR.mo or gce_fr_FR.mo ?

I did create a new calendar, and with the grid (through widget), I was able to see the events. Which is fine, if I have to redo all the calendar.

When you click on add-on, there is a window opending asking for an Id and Password.

=> I did restore my living site. Sorry,
    Rgds

Btw, I didn’t understand how to deal with your comment :

“but if you are unsure and are familiar with mysql you can look for it in the wp_options table – alternatively you can run this command once from your wordpress functions.php delete_option( ‘simple-calendar_version’ ); load wordpress once and then remove this code – later you can try again reinstalling Simple Calendar from beta or when 3.0.0 becomes available on www.ads-software.com

    Hello Vincent

never mind about my MySQL comment,

as for the languages, the plugin is going to use WordPress own language packs – it’s a new system they have rolled out recently on www.ads-software.com. Basically it allows people to translate plugins (and themes) from www.ads-software.com. And also, send language updates disjointed from plugin updates. So you can just press a button from your WordPress installation and the languages will update without going through plugin update process.

To use language packs, it was necessary to change the plugin textdomain from gce to google-calendar-events (the name which was used to register the plugin originally in the plugins directory).

However, you won’t need to load manually the .mo files inside the language directory. The languages will be handled by www.ads-software.com. This will be possible only when version 3.0 is uploaded to the directory. Current translations are still pointing to 2.4.

As for the Add-on pages, it’s not visible yet to public, but it will be soon as version 3.0 is officially launched – you’re still previewing a beta after all).

    Thank you!

Assuming this has been resolved since there has not been a reply here. We have also released version 3.0.0 so we suggest you update to that when you get a chance. There are a lot of changes so we also suggest reading through this first for more details about the update: https://docs.simplecalendar.io/update-2-4-to-3-x/

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks!
