• I think it would be amazing if a better way to search for plugins is implemented.

So examples that would make life MUCH easier:

    * A filter system that filters out plugins that aren’t supported for 1-2 years with updates.

    * A way to see previously installed and removed plugins.

    * Category view, for example: “writing, admin, visual…”

    * Sort on ratings / install / works with your WP version.

    * Filters that shows that certain languages are supported or not.

    * An easy way to see all the plugins of a certain dev.

Since at the moment, I feel that the current built in plugin browser is extremely barren. I had to take a long time checking all the plugins to find interesting plugins that are helpful for my website and developers I could support. So yeah :/

The plugin search already ignores plugins that haven’t been updated for x time.

Someone else mentioned about core keeping a list of previously installed plugins, but I don’t think it went anywhere. There was also this core ticket that raised a ruckus, because plugins could rearrange search results: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/46763

There used to be a better page for browsing plugins. It was supposed to be changed to use categories, but that hasn’t been mentioned for a few years. There also used to be a tags page. Now the tags are shown in the sidebar of each plugin page. They are not as visible as before.

The ticket mentioned above concerns sorting also.

There is already a profile page for each author, which lists their plugins.

I’ll do that. Sadly enough, the listing of the plugins without searching still shows those long not updated plugins and such… But hey, maybe bumping / reviving those tickets might help.
